Winter holiday & winter camping in Kaunertal
A winter full of possibilities
Skiing & Snowboarding
The Kaunertaler Glacier and Fendels are your ski areas at our Alpin Camping – easily accessible by ski bus. Wide slopes, challenging descents and panoramic views await you at the glacier, while family-friendly slopes and a cosy atmosphere characterise the winter mountain of Fendels. Ski hire and ski school on site.
Village lift "Espen"
Right in Feichten there is a Lift, which is very popular with both young and old in the valley. Accessible on foot from Alpin Camping, the conveyor belt and platter lift make it a great meeting point for young skiers, but also for adult beginners.
Cross-country skiing & skating
The great Kaunertal round starts right at the campsite. Over around eight kilometres – partly blue, partly red – you’ll find ideal conditions for classic cross-country skiing and skating. The Kaunertal is one of Tyrol’s cross-country specialists and has been awarded the trail quality seal. Other routes lead through the Kaunergrat Nature Park. Equipment hire and courses are available on site.
Winter hiking & snowshoe hiking
Those looking for a quieter pace will find numerous winter hiking trails in the valley. Popular routes include the valley loop along the trail or the paths towards the viewing platform and Ögghöfe. And for those wanting to immerse themselves even deeper in winter: guided snowshoe tours are offered by the Kaunertaler Bergführer as part of the winter programme. Step by step. Snow by snow.
Tobogganing & feel the snow
In the Kaunertal valley, you’ll find several natural toboggan runs waiting for you. At Winterberg Fendels and at the Kaunertaler Gletscher, lifts will take you comfortably to the start. You can reach other routes on foot, e.g. towards Ögghöfe, Verpeil viewing platform or Falkaunsalm. Toboggan hire available directly in Feichten.
Ski tours & Freeriding
The Kaunertal valley is a paradise for ski tourers and freeriders. The offer ranges from designated piste ski tours in Fendels to high-alpine summit destinations and spectacular variant descents around the glacier. The Kaunertal mountain guides offer taster days and guided tours. You can get information directly from us at the Alpin Camping.
Ice climbing & rock climbing experience
Around 20 icefalls offer varied lines at different difficulty levels when the weather is sufficiently cold. A highlight is the Mühlbach ice climbing arena right in the village. It is managed by the mountain rescue service and the Kaunertal mountain guides and is easily accessible on foot from Alpin Camping. Courses available on request. You can obtain an up-to-date ice climbing guide from the tourism board.
Winter enjoyment & Advent
As the Christmas season approaches, our idyllic valley transforms into a winter wonderland. On several Saturdays, a festive, regional Christmas market in the village square of Feichten invites you to linger – accompanied by a mountain Christmas programme in the nature park and glacier region of Kaunertal.
